White Mountains.
(Braking can save a moose's life too, you know.)
Entering the White Mountain National Forest from the east, following Kancamagus Highway.
The crossing-point over the divide is 870 meters above sea level.
Here's a resting-place with a view, that many will find quite attractive – especially the cyclists we provided with additional water during our short stop there.
More as a side-note: My own sense of what constitutes “mountains” may have let me down a bit, as most of what I could see of White Mountains looked more like rolling hills than mountains to me. Of course, this doesn't change the fact that we really did pass a quite substantial mountain-range.
