sunset over Lake Erie.

The plan for this evening was to pass the islands near Niagara Falls, so I could look out over Lake Erie without any obstructions between me and the horizon at the lake surface. Finally we were far enough south, and managed to find a spot along the shores so I could see the last of the sunset over water.

Lake Erie again, at daytime. (I opted for a tall image because I didn't want to crop the blue sky above the lake.)

A lake is a lake, but a great lake isn't great (at least not to me) if one can see land on the other side. Lake Erie is great.

Evangola State Park.

We had spent the night at Evangola State Park, by the seashore. As with most state parks, it was a nice place to stay.

(My traveling-companion will of course notice that I've left out all complications related to getting here; like getting lost in the dark, and having to make a tre-point turn (with an RV) in the middle of the road not far from the campground when a policeman politely informed us that we were going in the wrong direction on a one-way road, and all the other minor issues we had. I think this is quite normal when one doesn't plan every detail well in advance, so no need documenting it.)

I recommend using state park campgrounds instead of regular campgrounds, whenever possible, as most state park campgrounds are extremely well suited if you want a place to relax after being on the road the whole day. Many regular campgrounds are simply to noisy – for me anyway.

The availability and ease of use of electrical hook-ups, water and dumping facilities for RVs, may be better at regular campgrounds, but most state park campgrounds have what's needed.
