oh, but it's cold outside.

A gas station isn't all that interesting in itself, but we had just spent the night here – thanks to the very helful people who worked at the station.

We were 6 miles north of Binghamton, planning to drive north towards Syracuse a bit and then cross the Catskill Mountains. All well and good, but it was bitterly cold both outside and inside our RV that morning, and we had to fire up what we could just to get ourselves going. Took a while to get warmed up and ready, but finally we could start on the last leg of our journey.

up hill, down hill – is this the Catskills?

The landscape were quite hilly, so something new came into view every third of a mile. Not the best light for getting good pictures, but that didn't prevent me from trying.

Farms, milk trucks, tractor eggs (silage bales) … they all tell me something about the area we're driving through.

activity.

Grazing cattle and grass-harvesting in the slopes. Yes, I definitely got to see some of the active countryside I was looking for, on the west side of Catskills.
