Loony line-up

notes:

Slightly unusual line-up of floats. Based on 100% = 16px font-size, which must not be altered.

The purpose is to test how browsers handle floats with negative margins.

tested browsers:

• Firefox 1.0 win/Mac — ok.
• IE6 — ok.
• Opera 7.54 win/Mac — ok.
• Opera 8.0 win — fails. Can not be corrected.
• Opera 9.0 win — ok.
• Safari 1.2.4 — ok.

Conclusion: Opera 8.0 is still very much a βeta, which can not be used as “a marker” in any design-process.

Update [24.oct.2005]: Opera 9.0 preview 1 indicates that the browser is "fixed".
