…and other disturbances…

honey, I'm home…

Yes, I'm back at the farm in Norway again, and it is real winter around here. Up to half a meter of snow in the fields, 2-3 meter high snowdrifts here and there, and the local roads just barely clear enough for 4-wheel drive cars. Sure a change from sunny Florida.

Everything is “business as usual” on the farm for this time of year. Cows to feed, milk and care for, snow to curse and move around…

Internet connection is as bad as when I left Norway 3 months ago, which means around 25% down-time and barely usable when it's up. I'm still working on “a fix” for this problem, but such matters take time.

On top of that all national TV stations will be polluted with winter sports the coming weeks just to make being a Norwegian less than desirable for a while. Can't avoid the pollution at home since my wife actually likes watching winter sports.

delayed homecoming…

Someone high up in Washington decided to declare the area around the American Capitol a no-fly zone when my plane was about to leave Florida, which meant I lost the connection from Newark, NJ, to Europe and had to get new tickets for the next day. Shit!

Hotels are OK but generally pretty boring, and long waits at airports aren't much fun either. 30 hours lost “in transit” for no good reason – should be a law against it.

winter wonderland…

I'll be outdoors now and then in the coming days, looking for the right objects/themes for my cameras. Winter in Norway may be a bit too cold and not good for much of anything as far as I'm concerned, but it sure can look extremely nice and inviting on pictures.

Right now I'm looking at the flames in our fireplace while sort of watching news from across the world on TV. The news contains some disturbing scenes and stories today, as it did yesterday and the day before and so on. Our fireplace is warm and calming though.

a playground:

This site-section is a playground for future site development, and by definition a bit unstable.

For now I'll use it to list the latest site updates, and also for small notes about anything that I'd like to share with others without having to write full articles.
