latest updates on www.gunlaug.no…
february 2009:
Have released a few web design related articles…
- I'm creating polyglot documents
- A pragmatic look at our wonderful CSS 3 future
- I have a browser agnostic approach to web design
…and updated a few others…
- Molly is testing IE8 - The Next Generation web browser from Microsoft.
- Molly is keeping an eye on Opera, the maestro – her favorite browser.
Apart from that most of my web related work goes on behind the scene and out of view right now.
internet access…
Still only the same slow and somewhat unreliable connection we have had for years, and I don't know when, or even if, an improvement will come.
The present connection is holding me back, and patience is wearing thin while the frustration-level rises. It doesn't do much good to be able to do all sorts of things across my local network when I can't get anything past this digital bottleneck.
I've been told a definitive decision regarding “fiber-optics or nothing” will be made this month – February, and if so I'll soon be able to either plan and build for the future up in these hills or look for alternatives.
In what one may call a worst case scenario I will simply have to move on, out of here, and look for solutions elsewhere. Not something I look forward to.
snowy hills…
It is winter in Norway, and we see no point in shoveling more snow than we have to while waiting for the spring.
So far the snow on roads and pastures haven't caused too many problems. That can change quite quickly in these hills, so we're prepared for the quite normal winter storms that can pile up 2-3 meter high snowdrifts across access roads and around buildings and cut us physically off from the rest of the world for a day or three. We certainly wouldn't mind if those storms stayed away this year though.
sincerely
