rips…
…and other disturbances…
mostly nice weather in Hernando County…
Temperatures have been on the low side
lately, dipping below freezing a couple of nights. Not good for growing crops, so farmers in the area may have
lost some.
For me the weather has been alright – I'm used to much worse this time of year. Right now it is sunny and warm around here, and looks like it's gonna stay that way.
All in all I'm quite happy with both weather and all else so far. Have met many friendly people, and haven't experienced any real problems the first month of my three month stay in the Spring Hill area.
getting around…
Can't do much without
a car around here, so I bought one. It's large enough to serve me well no matter where I go and
whatever I want to carry with me.
Won't drive far north of Florida this winter, but I do have plans for criss-crossing the United States and up into Canada while visiting at other times of year. That's why I bought such a large car and put emphasis on ease of driving over long distances.
A GPS navigation tops it up.
Don't think I'd get far without one. Not that I have major problems knowing where I am or finding
directions, but it is so much easier to drive safely when I can focus entirely on roads and traffic. After all:
I am in a country with slightly different road-culture than what I'm used to, and I see no point in
taking chances.
oh, almost forgot the house…
A car needs a garage, so I bought
one and the house that came with it. I settled for an older house in a quiet neighborhood, where I can
relax when I'm on this side of the pond.
Not much to say about the house other than that it has been well kept by previous owners and is in good conditions for its age. May have more to say about it when I have spent a few weeks there.
